Compress PNG images without losing pixels
Optimize PNG files locally with lossless WebAssembly compression. Keep transparency and image pixels, without uploading your files.
How to use PNG Compressor
- Choose a static 8-bit PNG, such as a screenshot, logo or transparent graphic.
- Select Quick, Balanced or Thorough optimization. These control encoder effort, not image quality.
- Optimize, compare file sizes and download the result. The lossless encoder preserves dimensions, pixel values and transparency.
Choose the right settings
- Start with Balanced. Thorough can take longer and does not guarantee a smaller file. An already optimized PNG may have no further size reduction.
- Animated PNG, 16-bit PNG and unsupported orientation metadata are rejected. Converting to JPG is a separate, lossy choice and requires a background for transparency.
Simple tools. Thoughtful details.
PNG optimization uses a dedicated lossless encoder rather than a JPG quality slider. It repacks the image data without reducing image dimensions or quantizing its colors. Results depend on how the original was encoded. This version supports static, 8-bit PNG images; unsupported animated or high-bit-depth files are rejected clearly.
Static JPG, PNG, and WebP. Up to 20 MB and 24 megapixels per image. Modern browser required.
Frequently asked questions
Is PNG compression lossless?
This tool uses lossless optimization, with transparent-pixel alteration disabled. It does not reduce the dimensions or quantize your image's colors.
Is transparency preserved?
Yes. The alpha channel is preserved. Use the converter if you want to change the format; JPG requires a background color.
Why is my PNG not much smaller?
Some PNG files have already been optimized. Lossless compression cannot guarantee a reduction for every image.
